SRINAGAR: SK University of Agricultural Sconces and Technology-Kashmir (SKUAST-K) Scientists and Teachers Association (SSTA) on Friday hailed the appointment of Prof Nazeer Ahmad as the varsity’s vice chancellor.
In a press statement issued here, President SSTA, Dr S A Dar, while welcoming the appointment of Dr Nazeer Ahmad, expressed gratitude to the chancellor and pro-chancellor for appointing an “efficient person of high calibre and integrity” to the coveted post.
Dar said Dr Nazeer has earned reputation for his rich academic and research excellence and administrative credentials over the period of time. He will be“great boost” to the varsity’s efforts for strengthening of its roots, he said.
“SSTA hopes that the new vice chancellor will come up to the expectations of SKUAST-K employees in general and scientific fraternity in particular, and will also streamline the institution which has derailed from last few years.
“We are hopeful that the new VC will look into the policies that have been implemented from time to time by the outgoing VC and would revoke some of the orders, which SSTA has expressed displeasure over,” he said.
“We are hopeful that Prof Nazeer will act in right perspective to decide the future of this prestigious institution,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Welfare Forum of SKUAST-K also thanked the chancellor and the pro-chancellor for appointing Prof Dr Nazir Ahmad as Vice-Chancellor of the university for the next five years.
