3 killed in road accidents across JK

SRINAGAR: Three persons including a 6-year-old girl died in three different road accidents across Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Friday.
While the girl and a man were crushed to death by speeding vehicles in Kashmir valley, another man was hit by a mini-bus in the Batote area of Ramban district in Jammu.
A police official said 25-year-old Hilal Ahmad Guru was crushed to death by an unknown vehicle in the wee hours on Friday in Shilwat Sumbal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
According to his family members, he had gone to the nearby masjid to offer prayers.
Station house officer, Sumbal, Mehboob Banday, said that it seemed a hit and run case.
In south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, 6-year-old Burza Jan , a resident of Hardoora Anantnag, died on the spot after being hit by a speeding truck at Nai Basti Rampora, in Qoimoh. Police said that the driver of the vehicle fled from spot.
Meanwhile, Mir Wali, an employee of Animal Husbandry Department at Batote, was crossing the road when he was hit by a speeding mini-bus near Batote bus stand, a police officer said. He said that the driver managed to escape from the spot.
Wali who was profusely bleeding was referred to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu but succumbed to his injuries on the way, he said.
His body was handed over to family members for last rites after conducting all legal formalities, police said, adding, a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
