SRINAGAR: National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, on Thursday paid tributes to the martyrs of Bijbehara on their 22nd death anniversary.
In a statement, Khan said that Kashmiris have not forgotten their martyrs who laid their lives for the cause of freedom.
“22 years back, on October 22, 1993, the Indian occupational forces opened their guns on innocent and unarmed protesters in douth Kashmir town martyring around 50 peaceful protesters and injuring 150. Those were the days when people of the valley were on roads against Dargah Hazratbal siege,” Khan said paying tributes to those killed on the day.
Stressing upon Muslims to follow the message of Muharram in letter and spirit, Khan said that Karbala has drawn lines between right and wrong once for all.
“Hussainiat is an ideology and if followed can bring peace worldwide,” Khan said in his Muharram message during his house detention.
“Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) is the torch bearer of righteousness,” he said while stressing upon the people to take the lessons of resistance, steadfastness, virtue, decency and persistence from Karbala.
“Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) has once for all defined Haq and Batil so it is now the obligation of Muslim Ummah to follow Haq and resist against Batil, in what so form it will be,” Khan said.
He strongly condemned the banning of Muharram processions and termed it as interference in the religious matters.
