Srinagar: Vodafone’s J&K circle on Monday handed over woolen clothing to couple of NGOs for distribution among the needy children of the Valley.
In a statement, a spokesman said that quality woolen clothing including blankets, jackets, caps, gloves etc were given to the NGOs including Balgram and Athrout in Srinagar. “These NGO’s will ensure that the woolens are distributed among underprivileged children. This is an effort by Vodafone to extend a helping hand to these children and ensuring that they are adequately equipped to fight the biting cold during the winter season,” he added.
He said that the woolens were bought by the employees of Vodafone during a special sale conducted from October 16 to 19 in Jammu and Srinagar. “The employees then donated these woolens for this sacred purpose.” He said that the Vodafone tied-up with local retailers for procuring these woolen cloths. “Conducted under Vodafone’s ‘Gift-a-Smile’ umbrella, the initiative is sure to bring smiles on the faces of these children and make them feel loved.”
Pushpinder S Gujral, business head of Vodafone for J&K, Punjab and HP said that the telecom giant is a people-centric organisation.
