Habba Kadal woman hospitalized after inhaling pepper gas

Srinagar: A woman has been hospitalized for inhaling pepper gas in Habba Kadal locality of this capital city, where angry protesters and government forces are locked in pitched battles.

Nighat Begum, a mother of two fell unconscious this afternoon when government forces allegedly fired pepper gas shells towards her house in Habba Kadal locality  while chasing a group of youth, who were protesting against the Muharram ban, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

The woman was removed by her family to the nearby SMHS hospital for treatment.

“Her condition was frightening. She vomited several times and faced immense difficulty in breathing as well. She was put on oxygen by doctors after her arrival,” a close relative told Kashmir Reader.

He alleged that the government forces were lobbing pepper gas and teargas canisters aimlessly after failing to chase away the protesters.
