Geelani calls for Anantnag Chalo today

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday appealed people to participate in the condolence gathering of Zahid Rasool Bhat at his residence Batengoo in Anantnag district on Thursday (October 22).
“This program will be a befitting reply to the communal elements of India and together we’ll foil all their nefarious designs,” Geelani said in a statement.
Zahid, who was injured in a petrol bomb attack on a truck by a Hindu mob in Udhampur on October 9, died in Delhi on Sunday.
The Hurriyat (G) had proposed a seminar on Thursday at its Hyderpora office but postponed that for condolence gathering in the south Kashmir district.
Geelani, who himself is scheduled to participate in the program, urged people to face the present situation of the state by standing united.
“RSS and its allied partners, under a well planned strategy, are hell bent to incite communal tensions in the state which are aimed to divert the attention of people from the freedom movement,” Geelani said and appealed people to uphold the communal harmony at any cost.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman said: “At this crucial juncture, we have to remain vigilant at every step and have to foil the designs of communal forces. During the program, we’ll demand death sentence for the culprits of innocent boy Zahid Rasool who was brutally murdered. This way, we’ll send a clear message to world that India is at war with its minorities particularly the Muslims and the people of Kashmir.”
Geelani termed the PDP as branch of RSS and BJP. “The PDP for long is working on the agenda of RSS and BJP and is following their every diktat,” he said.
He said while voices are being raised against the growing communalism in India, the “state collaborators of communal parties” have maintained silence, just to secure their chairs. “Unfortunately, we have our ‘Mir Jafars and Mir Sadiqs’ here who are only concerned about their chairs,” Geelani added.
