Army carries out search operation in Tangmarg village

Baramulla: Army carried out house-to- house searches today in a village in Tangmarg area of this north Kashmir district, where a militant was killed and three soldiers injured in a gun-battle on Wednesday.

Around a dozen vehicles carrying soldiers of 2 RR appeared in Bongam village and placed it under siege, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. The soldiers instantly started a search operation in the village, where a local militant of Hizbul Mujahideen was killed and three soldiers injured in a gunfight on Wednesday.

“The forces conducted thorough house-to-house searches. The inmates were subjected to frisking and identification checks,” a local said.


However, no one was arrested by the army during the search operation.

Meanwhile, reports said that hundreds of people visited the family of slain Hizb militant Nisar Ahmad Wani and expressed solidarity with them.
