SRINAGAR: In view of Darbar move, only one-way traffic will be allowed on Jammu-Srinagar highway on specific dates.
In an official handout issued here, IGP Traffic said the authorities have decided “to permit only down convoys from Srinagar to Jammu for two days—October 31 and November 1”.
“No up convoy from Jammu to Srinagar shall be permitted on the dates under any circumstances. Army and paramilitary force convoys shall also not be allowed to ply from Jammu to Srinagar,” he said.
On November 7 and 8, vehicles will be allowed to move from Srinagar to Jammu only, “to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles carrying Darbar move employees from Srinagar to Jammu as the offices are opening in Jammu on November 9”, the IGP said.
“No up traffic from Jammu to Srinagar including the convoys of army and paramilitary forces shall be permitted to ply on the dates under any circumstances,” he said.
Meanwhile, government of all types of vehicles on Sonamarg–Drass road will only be allowed between 7 am to 9 pm daily, the Inspector General of Police, Srinagar informed.
An official handout issued here said the road “shall be kept dry between 9 pm and 7 am to enable BEACON authorities to carry out necessary repairs and proper maintenance”.
