Shutdown continues in Anantnag against Zahid’s murder

Anantnag: Amid a complete shutdown against the murder of a Kashmiri trucker, clashes broke out between youth and government forces after CRPF men allegedly thrashed an auto driver and broke down the glass panes of a cab in Lal Chowk area of this south Kashmir township.

The clashes erupted early this morning when a group of troopers with out any reason “thrashed” an auto rickshaw driver Gulzar Ahmad at Lal Chowk, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. The troopers also allegedly damaged the window panes of a cab.

Witnesses said that the CRPF action angered the pedestrians who resorted to stone throwing at forces.Forces, they said, resorted to teargas shelling to chase away the stone throwing youth.

Clashes also broke out between forces and youth in Bijbehara town.

Meanwhile a complete shutdown is also being observed in Batengoo the native village of Udhampur petrol bomb attack victim Zahid Rasool, witnesses said.

CRPF and police have been deployed in strength in the village to scuttle any protests.

“Forces who are deployed in strength on the road leading to the main village from highway are not allowing any one to move out,” locals told Kashmir told Kashmir Reader over phone.
