SRINAGAR: JKLF on Monday said the pro-India politicians carrying Zahid Rasool Bhat’s coffin are “directly responsible” for his murder.
Addressing a “condolence meeting” on Srinagar-Anantnag highway, JKLF’s Zonal President Noor Muhammad Kalwal, according to a press statement issued here, said, “The politicians who are shamelessly posing for photographs with the coffin of our innocent martyr are directly responsible for his murder. With their hypocrisy, they are rubbing salt on the wounds of Kashmiris.”
He said the best way to pay homage “to Zahid and other martyrs is to remain away from India and its stooges, and refrain from being part of their dual-faced politics”.
The party’s Zonal President Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Zonal Organiser Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, District President Muhammad Ishaaq Ganaie, and activist Shabir Ahmad Boitengoo reached Anantnag late last night and stayed at the residence of martyr Zahid, the statement said.
The government has placed JKLF’s Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and Vice-Chairman, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, under house arrest, it said.
They, it said, visited the bereaved family to express solidarity, and later participated in the funeral prayers.
They also held a condolence meeting on Srinagar-Anantnag highway, it said.
Kalwal, as per the statement, asked people “to remember their (pro-India parties’) oppression and stay away from their meetings and rallies and also refrain from voting for them”.
“We are today saying farewell to another victim of state-sponsored terrorism and on this occasion we have to understand who is responsible for all this,” he said. He said Kashmiris cannot remain silent at “what is being done with the Muslims in India”.
