Jammu: Opposition on Friday accused the PDP-BJP government of taking credit for projects started by their predecessors after Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed laid the foundation stone of a multi-level parking lot barely a few feet away from one already laid by Omar Abdullah last year.
Two plaques of the two foundation stones of the same project stand hardly at a distance of 15 feet from each other at General Bus stand here.
“The previous government had already tied the funding for various projects in the state from the previous UPA government at the Centre,” former Minister for Urban Development and Leader of Congress Legislative Party Nawang Rigzin Jora said.
“Before elections last year, 40 foundation stones were laid, maps and projects completed and the funding for the projects was also tied up. However, due to elections in the state, work on some projects could not be started,” he said.
The new PDP-BJP government is laying foundation stones of the projects already started by the previous government, he claimed, adding that the present dispensation has so far failed to get a single penny from the Centre to start any new project in the state.
“Has the Urban Development Ministry in the state been able to get a single penny from the Union Urban Development Ministry for any new project? While so many smart cities were sanctioned across the country not a single smart city was announced for Jammu and Kashmir,” Jora said.
