Jammu: Scores of members of Sikh community today staged demonstrations in this winter capital against the alleged desecration of a religious book in the neighbouring state of Punjab.

The members of various Sikh organisations today converged at Digiana Ashram and staged strong protests over the desecration of a religious book by unknown persons in Faridabad district of the neighbouring state, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

Chanting slogans against the Punjab government, the protesters blocked the Jammu-Pathankot highway with burnt tyres and rocks seeking identification and punishment for the guilty.

“The protesters also torched effigy of Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal,” witnesses said.
