SRINAGAR: Scientific faculty of SK University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology University has appealed the government to appoint new vice chancellor without any delay because “temporary” arrangement has affected the functioning of the varsity.
In a statement, president SSTA Dr S A Dar said the search committee should prefer a local candidate with academic excellence instead of employing or granting extension to anyone.
“The SSTA requests the government to appoint the new VC without any further delay as temporary arrangements have adversely affected the smooth working of the University. The temporary arrangement goes against the State policy of not granting any service extension and reappointment to any employee,” Dar said.
It said they expect the government would prefer a local candidate, who is well aware of the situations prevailing in the university and problems of students and the teaching community. “We appeal Chancellor and Pro-chancellor to look in this matter and use their established political wisdom in appointing a new Vice Chancellor to SKUAST-Kashmir who can streamline the institution vis-à-vis the academics, research and extension,” he added.
