Man injured in leopard attack

BARAMULLA: A 50 year-old-man was injured after a leopard attacked him here in Shaji-Marg area of Tangmarg on Monday.
Eyewitnesses said that Gulam Mohammad Khatana was collecting grass from the orchards of former chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Monday morning when a leopard appeared on the scene and pounced on Khatana.
They said that the local people who were working around the area rushed to the spot and chased the leopard.
Khatana was later removed to a nearby health centre where doctors discharge him after treatment.
Wildlife block officer, Tangmarg, Gulam Mohiudin confirmed the incident. ” Our team is there to capture the leopard as soon as possible,” he said. He said that this was not an isolated incident in the area. “Another person Gulzar Ahmad was also injured by leopard in the same orchard in the past,” he said.
