Srinagar: The pro-freedom leadership on Saturday condemned the attack on a truck, belonging to a Kashmiri Muslim, by goons in Udhampur terming it “terrorism” by communal elements of India.
Condemning the “communal” incident, the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani termed it “terrorism of communal forces” of India. He said that Jammu & Kashmir is “directly ruled by the fanatic and ill-minded people who openly express their hatred against the Muslims”.
He said the communal forces want to repeat the economic blockade or “economic terrorism” of 2008 and are preparing ground for that purpose. “The elimination of minorities particularly Muslims in India is the prime agenda of RSS and its allied parties. This time they have got their favorable government for that work.”
Geelani said that RSS-PDP coalition government in Jammu & Kashmir is “now reckoned as the worst and most dangerous period” in the history of Jammu Kashmir “for which Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his party is directly responsible”.
“Mufti Sayeed is the person who gave direct access to these fascist and communal elements in the state which encouraged them to show their enmity with the Muslim community. The present attitude of the communal forces will push the state into a deep trouble and the situation will be out of control for everybody,” Geelani added.
Terming the attack as “terrorism supported by the rulers”, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik said it has once again proved that PDP led rulers are “actually enemies of Muslims and Kashmiris”.
“Now, Kashmiris are not safe even on their land. Such attacks are unacceptable,” Malik said.
The senior Hurriyat (G) leader and Chairman Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmad Shah termed the “murderous” attack as the “hooliganism of communal and fascist forces”.
He said if strong resistance is not shown against such forces the situation may go out of control.
“The murderous attack on Kashmiri traders and drivers in Udhampur and burning of their vehicles is intolerable. These are the steps towards enforcing the economic blockade to valley,” Shah said.
Shah said the communal forces are hell bent to divide the state and alleged that government by not taking any action against these people is encouraging them. “These incidents are the outcome of the provocative and communal statements of RSS leader Leela Krishan,” Shah said and appealed the world community to take notice of intense situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
““If the communal elements want to do so, we have the option to move via Rawalpindi and we will trade with Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, all impediments in this regard should be removed,” he said.
Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Syeda Aasiya Andrabi while reacting to the incident said that time has come for a “decisive struggle” and has appealed the United Jihad Council (UJC) to “take notice of such incidents”.
She said the Muslims of Jammu Kashmir despite being in majority are made to feel insecure.
“If the incidents happening nowadays, especially the truck burning in Udhampur, too fails to awake us, our end has started,” Aasiya said in a statement and urged the people and leadership “to get ready for a decisive fight for the freedom”.
