JK participates in Cinema Summit to lure Bollywood

SRINAGAR: The state’s Tourism department participated in the annual Cinema Tourism Summit held at Mumbai, asking Bollywood’s filmmakers to chose Kashmir over Europe for shooting.
An official handout issued here on Saturday said that several famous Bollywood personalities including Director Ramesh Sippy and Vice-President of Yash Raj Films Ashish Singh participated in the summit.
“They shared their positive experiences of filming in Kashmir and about how the state can match the incentives provided by the governments of UK, Canada, and North America,” the handout said.
It said the promotional clips of films shot in Kashmir were also played on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, CEO Patnitop Tourism, Rakesh Kumar, described Kashmir as a “film destination”.
He spoke about a single window clearance system established by the state “to make it easy and feasible for the filmmakers to shoot in Kashmir”.
“The participation in the Cinema Summit is in continuation to the efforts of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to invite Bollywood to shoot again in Kashmir,” the handout said.
“In this connection, the Chief Minister visited Mumbai and interacted with the leading Bollywood actors and encouraged them to start shooting in Kashmir instead of Europe.”
