Protests in CM’s hometown over dilapidated roads

Anantnag: Scores of people in Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s home town in Bijbehara here staged protests over the bad road conditions.

Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that hundreds of people from different villages assembled in Zirpora market and staged protests. The protesters blocked the busy Bijbehara-Langanbal road halting the traffic movement for hours.

The blockade of the road caused severe inconvenience to the passengers and tourists on way to Pahalgam, witnesses said.

The protesters said that the authorities have failed to macadamize the Bijbehara- Veeri road connecting several villages with the Tehsil headquarter Bijbehara.

‘The road is in worst condition but the authorities have never bothered to repair and macadamize it,” a protester Ghulam Nabi told Kashmir Reader.
