Youths detained while trying to unfurl BJP flags at Lal Chowk

Srinagar: Two youth were held today when they tried to unfurl BJP flag  at the historic clock tower in this heart of this capital city.

Sachin Kumar of R S Pura was trying to unfurl BJP flags at the clock tower, while his associate Gora Ram was filming it when a crowd surrounded them, a police official told Kashmir Reader. The duo was taken into preventive custody fearing backlash by the people.

Sachin is said to be a student of political science at IGNOU.

They were taken to the Maisuma police station and later shifted to Nishat police station.

Uneasy calm prevailed in the volatile Maisuma locality, the bastion of JKLF chief Mohammad Yasin Malik, after the incident. Malik has planned to hold a sit-in today at the Ganta Ghar against the choking of political space by the PDP-BJP coalition government.
