SRINAGAR: The government on Thursday informed the Assembly that there have been complaints about the encroachment of state-owned land to construct residential colonies.
“To check these encroachments a high level committee headed by Chief Conservator of Forest has been constituted to retrieve the land. It includes officials from forest, revenue and general administration department,” deputy chief minister, Nirmal Singh said in his reply to a question by Ali Mohammad Sagar.
So far two complaints have been registered, one each in Jammu and Kashmir regions.
It was also informed that 44 residential colonies have been developed by the government across the state.
