Trout to be sold in mobile vans

SRINAGAR: The marketing division of the Fisheries department on Wednesday launched the initiative of carrying mobile sale of trout fish at various locations here.
Chief Project Officer of the division, M M Bazaz, said the initiative would be followed besides the weekly sale of trout held every Saturday at the Gagribal outlet.
He said the initiative has been taken “to reach more customers and to provide them with one of the tastiest fresh water fish at their door steps”.
The fish, he said, are produced in government-run farms across the Valley, and is transported under hygienic conditions in a refrigerated van, which will also be used for this mobile sale.
“The mobile sale initiative will be focused on uptown areas such as Dalgate, Rajabagh, and Burzulla. The van will later move to old city areas of Khankahi Mohalla, Zainakadal, and Nowhatta,” he said.
On an average, one quintal of trout is packed in two and one-kilogram packs. The department offers each customer a maximum of two kilograms of fish, priced at Rs 400 per Kilogram.
