SRINAGAR: The government on Wednesday informed the Assembly that it has formed a committee to frame a policy for granting awards to the outstanding sportspersons of the state.
A government spokesman said that minister for roads and buildings, Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari on behalf of minister for technical education, youth services and sports, today said that the department of youth services and sports has received a proposal from J&K State Sports Council, for special package for Chain Singh, working as Naib Subedar in Indian Army, who has donned colours at National & International level in the field of sports.
The Minister said that accordingly, the proposal has been taken up with the finance department with the request for release of cash reward of Rs 5 lakh and suitable plot of land in favour of the said rifle shooter. He said that the finance department has returned the proposal with the advise to work out a detailed standing policy.
“Accordingly, the department constituted a committee for framing of detailed standing policy for granting cash and land award to the outstanding sports persons. The committee will submit its findings and recommendations shortly,” the minister informed the House.
