Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee would organise a program on October 10 to pay tributes to the political prisoners, a spokesman said in a statement.
He said that the day would be observed as Prisoners Day.
“AAC today held deliberations to give a final shape to the October 10programme and decided that the members of all its constituents would meet on October 9 after Friday prayers at 2:30 pm at Mirwaiz Manzil at Rajouri Kadal.The programme would be addressed by Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Hurriyat leaders who would shed light on the importance of observing the day every year.”
He said that the leaders would pay tributes to Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, who, “as a 20-year-old, showed the way by standing up against the oppression and tyrannical rulers in 1965 and fought for truth invoking the wrath of the oppressive rulers who made him a political prisoner.”
The leaders would also pay tributes and express solidarity with other political prisoners serving jails and detentions cross Kashmir and in different Indian jails
Meanwhile AAC has congratulated Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for the honour of being selected at number nine in the list of ‘Top-10 Muslim Leaders’ of the world and for being named among 500 most-influential persons.
