SRINAGAR: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, on Tuesday said “a number of” industrial estates have been set up in the state to promote industries.
Replying to a question in the Legislative Council, he said, “To promote local industries in J&K, Industries and Commerce department has established a number of industrial estates in the state for setting up of industrial units by intended local entrepreneurs….”
He stated that “a number of” areas are being developed for setting up industrial estates.
For establishing and promoting local industries in the state, the minister said various incentives are being provided to entrepreneurs, including 100 per cent subsidy on purchase of new DG sets or laboratory equipment, and reimbursement on preparation of feasibility report.
Besides, he said, tax incentives, central package including subsidy on capital investment in plant and machinery to micro, small, medium and large scale units are also being provided.
Ganga stated that under PMEGP, unemployed youth are offered help to for setting up their own ventures.
The government, he said, is working on “multi-pronged strategy” for promotion and uplifting of handicrafts and silk industries in the state.
For promoting sericulture and silk industry in the state, he said “necessary technical and financial support” is being given to the Kiramkash community of the state.
