SRINAGAR: Government on Tuesday said that it has identified sites for setting up new medical colleges in the state.
In addition, it said, two new cancer centers will be set up at SKIMS Soura and Jammu Medical College.
“The ministry of Health and Family Welfare, government of India has identified five sites where new medical colleges will be set up. The sites include Anantnag, Baramulla, Doda, Rajouri and Kathua,” health minister Choudhary Lal Singh said in a written reply to a query in the legislative Assembly.
He further said that two new 200-bedded maternity hospitals, one at Bemina, Srinagar and another at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, at a cost of Rs 50 crore each have been taken up for execution.
He said that 16 Auxiliary Nurse Midwife /GNM schools in Jammu And Kashmir have been sanctioned to improve the nursing services in the state.
He said that an ANM school at Baderwah has been sanctioned by the government of India and work has been allotted to Jammu and Kashmir Housing Corporation.
