Woman succumbs to burn injuries

Anantnag: A 22-year-old woman who had allegedly been burnt by her husband last week in Shopian district of south Kashmir succumbed to her injuries on Monday.
Asiya daughter of Mohammad Yusuf Shiekh of Nowgam was brought to district hospital Shopian last week with severe burn injuries.
Doctors on the basis of the severity of her burns referred her to Srinagar hospital. However, after a week’s time, the woman succumbed to injuries this morning.
Station House Officer, police station Shopian , Feroz Ahmad, said that on October 2, the parents of the woman registered a complaint with regard to the burning incident of their daughter. “Soon after receiving the complaint, we registered an FIR 223 under section 209 and started investigations,” SHO said.
He confirmed that the woman died in the hospital today.
Asked if any arrests have been made in connection with the case, the police officer said, “Since the family has not lodged a complaint against any particular person,no one has been arrested so far”.
He said that investigation into the incident have been speeded up.
