Pulwama: Amid a complete shutdown, tens of hundreds of people in Tral participated in the funeral of the two Jaish-e-Muhammad militants who were killed in a gunfight with government forces on Sunday.
Early morning, hundreds of people from various villages of Tral converged at Bargam, where funeral of Jaish militants Adil Pathan and Chotta Burmi, was being held, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.
The militants had been draped in green cloth on which Quranic verses were written. The people were chanting pro-freedom, pro-Islam and pro-militant slogans.
Later, the bodies were carried in a procession to the martyrs’ graveyard, where the two were laid to rest, witnesses said.
Ghulam Mohiuddin Andrabi, district president of Syed Ali Geelani-led Tehreek-e-Hurriyat addressed the mourners.
