‘Comprehensive survey conducted to bring left-out families under PDS’

SRINAGAR: The Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), Choudhary Zulfkar, on Monday said a comprehensive survey was conducted in the state for inclusion of the left-out families into the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Replying to a question by Advocate Aijaz Ahmed Mir in the House, the minister, as per an official handout issued here, said, “To ensure that no family is left out of PDS, the department has recently issued a circular wherein instructions have been passed to all deputy commissioners to include all those families for ration distribution, who have been left-out in census-2011”.
The minister said a high-powered inter-departmental committee headed by principal secretary to government for planning and development department, and commissioner secretaries of finance, CAPD, and law departments as its members, has been constituted to examine in detail the pros and cons of the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA).
The committee, Choudhary said, would be submitting its recommendations shortly to be placed before the state cabinet for the final decision.
