Pulwama: Amid a complete shutdown, thousands of people in Tral today participated in the funeral of the two Jaish-e-Muhammad militants, who were reportedly killed in a gunfight with government forces on Sunday.
Early morning, hundreds of people from different villages of Tral converged at Bargam, where funeral of Jaish militants Adil Pathan and Chota Burmi, was being held, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. The people were chanting pro-freedom, pro-Islam and pro-militant slogans, as the numbers of mourners swelled into thousands.
Later, the bodies were carried in a procession to the martyrs’ graveyard, where the two were laid to rest, witnesses said.
Ghulam Mohiuddin Andrabi, district president of Syed Ali Geelani led Tehreek-e-Hurriyat addressed the mourners.
Meanwhile, all shops and commercial establishments in the restive township are closed to mourn the killing of the Jaish militants.
