Jammu: As the Legislative Assembly session is scheduled to begin on October 3, the BJP and the PDP are hosting dinners for their respective legislators to chalk out a strategy to counter the Opposition.
On Thursday, deputy chief minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, invited all his party legislators to devise a strategy for the LA session.
It is also learnt that chief minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, will be hosting a dinner for PDP legislators later today.
Sources told Kashmir Reader that DyCM hosted the legislators to, primarily, discuss issues concerning the Jammu region.
“Several decisions taken by the state government in the recent past have dented the image of the Saffron party among the people of Jammu. BJP would like to rectify it,” sources said.
They said that the BJP has “no stakes” in Kashmir and will be concentrating on how to deal with Jammu-centric issues on which the Opposition can counter them.
“These issues include hike in chopper service tax to Mata Vaishno Devi, inclusion of Urdu as major subject for appointment to Naib Tehsildhar post and rehabilitation of the flood victims in Jammu,” they said.
On the other hand, sources said, the PDP will have to face the Opposition on issues concerning Kashmir. “It is a trend to host dinners ahead of Assembly session. The issues to counter the Opposition and other strategies have to be formulated before the beginning of the session,” they said.
“This time around, the dinner politics would be serious as many controversial issues pertaining to both Jammu and Kashmir are to be discussion,” said sources.
They said that the alliance partners will formulate a uniform strategy to avoid criticism and grilling from the Opposition.
