Mudra Yojna: Banks asked to identify potential borrowers

SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura on Tuesday urged banks to identify potential borrowers, process their cases, and sanction and disburse loans to non-farm enterprises in district Budgam of central Kashmir.
The minister was speaking at an event related to Prime Minister’s Mudra Yojna, an official handout issued here said, adding the event was organised with a special emphasis on loans up to Rs 50,000 under ‘Shishu’ category.
The camp was organised by Lead Bank Office, Budgam in collaboration with the banks operating in the district, it said.
The minister, as per the handout, urged the prospective borrowers to take benefit of the Yojna and other sponsored schemes.
He asked them “to establish micro-units in land-transport, food-product, and textile sectors, and to take business loans for running shops, purchasing necessary machinery and equipments, and to earn livelihood”.
Hanjura later distributed sanctioned letters and cheques to 151 proposed borrowers.
The cheques amounting to Rs 82.50 lakh were sanctioned by various banks.
