Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Tuesday alleged that Indian System of Medicine (ISM) has prepared a drug composed of cow urine and other substances.
The amalgam also alleged that the medicine has been sent to the Valley for free distribution at all government dispensaries.
‘Cow Urine-based medicine Sanjeewani Vati is prepared by the Indian System of Medicine (ISM) and has been sent to Kashmir for free distribution at government dispensaries. It is a plot by communal forces, who want to hurt the sentiments of Muslim majority population,” a Hurriyat (G) spokesman said in a statement.
He demanded complete ban on the supply of the medicine in Kashmir and has appealed people not to consume the “Haram (forbidden)” drug.
He said that it is not any life saving drug or any essential medicine which could affect the health care in the valley.
“Our sources told us, how, on the directions of the health minister Lal Singh, this medicine was supplied to valley and how its free distribution on government drug counters was arranged.”
He said that the communal forces in 1983 had made same attempt but that triggered widespread protests and forced the government to stop the supply.
He said the Hurriyat (G) held a detailed meeting with prominent doctors and specialists of the valley “who also agreed that it is not any necessary medicine and its supply is just a mischievous act of communal elements to hurt the Muslims of the state.”
The spokesman while criticizing the PDP-BJP coalition government accused them of “playing with the religious sentiments of Muslims”. “Muslims are being stopped from eating Halal (permissible) things and are deceitfully made to eat Haram substances. It is an intolerable situation which will trigger a very strong reaction and can create a very dangerous situation in the state.”
Demanding impartial investigation into the matter, Hurriyat (G) accused the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and PDP of “handing complete control of the state to communal forces and helping their plans with closed eyes”.
“Whether it’s the issue of construction of Sainik colony in Valley, the permanent settlement of West Pakistan refugees or the recent cow slaughter controversy, Mufti Sayeed every time preferred to remain mum and compromised over the national interest by obeying every dictation of the communal forces. All his slogans have proven a hoax and he has no other interest than his chair,” he said.
The Hurriyat Conference has appealed the Ulemas (scholars) to highlight the issue and ask people not to consume it.
