Woman, 80, gang-raped in north India’s Uttar Pradesh

Bulandshahr (UP): An 80-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by two unidentified persons in Shikarpur town here.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon when the victim, a resident of Badaun district, was on her way to Katara Khera village from Ahmadgarh town to meet her daughter, Senior Superintendent of Police Anant Dev Tiwari said.

The woman was waiting for transport to go to her daughter’s village when two bike-borne men offered to drop her. The duo then took the woman to a park and gang-raped her, the SSP said.

The accused then dumped the victim near Shikarpur town.

Later, she was found unconscious and bleeding profusely by locals who then informed the police, Tiwari said.

The woman was rushed to a hospital from where she was referred to another hospital in Meerut, he said.

On the complaint of the victim’s daughter, an FIR was lodged against the two unidentified persons last evening, he said.

Medical examination of the victim was carried out and the report is awaited, the SSP said. (PTI)
