Srinagar-Jammu highway closed for second day

Srinagar: Traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway remained suspended for the second consecutive day today due to landslides triggered by heavy rainfall leaving at least 350 vehicles stranded.

The 300-km Srinagar-Jammu highway remained  closed for traffic for the second runing day today due to landslides triggered by heavy rains at Gangroo, Panthal and Seri, officials told Kashmir Reader.

Over 350 vehicles, including 50 light motor vehicles were stranded at the highway, even as the officials said that Beacon have pushed their men and machinery to remove the landslides and make the highway motorable.

“Efforts are on to clear the highway of landslides, We are hopeful that the highway will be thrown open for traffic soon,” a senior official said.
