Alleged Hizb militant laid to rest

Pulwama: Hundreds of people today participated in the funeral prayers of an alleged Hizbul Mujahideen militant who police said was killed in a gunfight in Awantipora area of this south Kashmir district on Tuesday.

Despite heavy rains, hundreds of people flocked to the house of the alleged Hizb militant Muzamil Ahmad Dar in his native village Chaterpra in the neigboring Shopian district this morning to attend his funeral prayers, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. Chanting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, the mourners carried body of Muzammil in a procession.

“More and more people joined the funeral procession by the time it reached the ancestral graveyard where Muzamil was laid to rest,” witnesses said.
