Srinagar: Team Alkhudam and Kashmir Royal Stars secured victories in their respective fixtures of Khyber Downtown Champions T-20 League played at Kashmir University Cricket ground on Monday.
In the first match of the day played between Team Alkhudam and Baba Reshi Lions, the former thrashed latter by six wickets.
Baba Reshi Lions skipper won the toss and opted to bat first. The decision to bat first back fired as entire team was bundled out for a paltry total of 69. They even failed to play their full quota of 20 over’s, as they were shunted out inside seven overs.
Medium pacers Muntazim and Suhail Mir were destroyers-in-chief as both rattled the top order of Baba Reshi Lions, taking seven wickets upfront between two of them.
Muntazim bagged four wickets conceding just 15 runs in his four over spell and his partner from the other Suhail supported him well, claiming three wickets for just 19 runs.
For Baba Reshi Loins except middle order batsman Imran Bazaz(27), none of their batsmen was able to reach into two digit figure. Lions’ batsmen threw away their wickets courtesy poor shot selection. In reply, Team Alkhudam achieved the set target of 70 runs with six wickets in hand.
For Lions, Abid Nabi, Abid Gul, Shakeel and Riyaz took one wicket each.
Munatim for his four wicket haul was declared man of the match. In the second fixture of the day Kashmir Royal Stars skipper Samiullah Beigh’s 65 run knock guided his side to a comfortable seven wicket victory over Kehawks.
Batting first Kashmir Royal Stars put a formidable total of 180 on the board. Samiullah was in devastating mood from the word go smashing Kehawks bowlers to every corner of the park. He hit four boundries and same number of hits for maximum in his 42-ball knock.
Down the order Nayeem Ahmed played a 13 ball cameo 27. For Kehawks, medium pacer Jaleel Ahmad was the pick of the bowler claming two wickets. Irfan, Prateek and Nazir also chipped in with one wicket each.
Chasing 180 Kehawks openers provided rollicking start and their good work was carried forward by Jaleel Ahmad who played a blistering knock of 60 runs off just 38 balls. In his 38 ball knock he hit four boundries and same number of hits for maximum.
Once Jaleel was removed by Ramday, Kehwaks lost momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals and was restricted to 173.
For Kashmir Royal Stars Umer, Samiullah and Ramdayal took two wickets each
Samiullah Beigh for his all-round performance was declared man of the match.
