Srinagar: The Upper reaches of the Valley experienced season’s first snowfall while rains lashed the plains dipping the day temperature sharply.
The world famous ski resort, Gulmarg, Sonamarg and north Kashmir’s Kupwara received season’s first snowfall during the intervening night of September 21-22, while rains lashed the plains, officials said. The holy Amarnath cave and its periphery and Mahaguns, Pissu top, Sheeshnag and Panjtarni also experienced snowfall since last evening.
An official of the Meteorological department told Kashmir Reader that Gulmarg recovered 26.6, Qazigund 25. 8, Pahalgam 19.0, Kokernag 16.4 and the frontier Kupwara district 12.0 mm rains till 8 am today.
Srinagar, the capital city recorded 17.6 mm rain, as people in many localities complained of water logging. The overnight rainfall also hit the Eid shoppers.
Meanwhile, the MeT official said that rains will o occur at many places across Kashmir valley in the next 24 hours. However, from Wednesday afternoon, the weather conditions will start improving.
