GANDERBAL: The newly created administrative units in district Ganderbal have not yet fully started functioning, much to the annoyance of locals.
People of the district complained that after Gund was given a tehsil status, only its tehsil office is working properly while no other office has been established in the area yet.
Block Development Office (BDO) and Block Medical Office (BMO) of the area remain open only twice a week.
The people complained that government played with their sentiments by creating these new administrative blocks and not making them functional.
“It is been more than six months now that these blocks and units were created but still no permanent office has been established at these units. Nothing practical has been done so far. The sufferings of the people continue,” said Gulam Nabi Sheikh, a local.
He said Gund has geographical and historical importance and is one of the old townships of Ganderbal district. “It is the main transit camp for Ladakh, Kargil and Zanskar and also for Amarnath Yatra,” he said.
The locals appealed government to make these newly created units more active so that people are benefitted.
“We wanted our sufferings to decrease by the newly created administrative blocks but so far our sufferings have increased ,” a local said.
