Hundreds attend Burhan’s funeral

Sopore: Hundreds of people this afternoon participated in the funeral prayers of a minor boy, who succumbed to his injuries hours after his father was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in a village here on Friday night.

Hundreds of people from Wadoora, Yunsoo, Nathipora, Pohru, Panipora, Chogul, and Bongam assembled in Sagipora village here when the news of Burhan’s death spread this morning, Witnesses told Kashmir Reader. The crowd swelled in numbers by the time three-year-old Burhan was brought to the village in an ambulance.

“Later his body was carried in a procession to the ancestral graveyard. Heart wrenching scenes were witnessed when the child was buried next to his father,” witnesses said.

Burhan, a nursery class student was critically injured while his father Bashir Ahmad Bhat, a former militant of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen was killed when unknown motorcycle borne men tossed grenade and opened fire at them on Friday evening. Burhan, who was removed to SKIMS here in critical condition, breathed his last this morning.
