Baramulla: Amid pro-freedom protests, thousands of people today participated in the funeral prayers of a Hizbul Mujahideen militant, whose bullet ridden body was discovered by locals in a paddy filed in Tangmarg area of this north Kashmir district.

Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that thousands of people converged at the house of Hizb militant Fayaz Ahmad Bhat in Wailoo village of Pattan here, minutes after his body was brought to the village for last rites. Chanting pro-freedom, pro-Islam and anti-India slogans, the body of Fayaz was taken in a procession to the martyrs’ graveyard, where he was laid to rest.

Later, the mourners staged anti-India government demonstrations alleging that the SOG killed the Hizb militant in a fake encounter.
