Geelani calls for statewide shutdown against Hizb militant’s, father-son duo’s killings

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has called for a state wide shutdown on Sunday against the killing of a former militant and his son in Sopore and a senior Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Tangmarg area of Baramulla district.

In a statement issued to media here, Geelani said that the killing of three-year-old child, his father and a Hizb militant in Sopore and Tangmarg is a tragedy as well and a matter of concern for the entire nation. He said no religion, even Islam allows the murder of an innocent child.

“His killing has plunged Kashmir into mourning. Everyone is asking about the crime for which this innocent child was  was killed,” he said.

The veteran resistance leader said that the nature of the killings that happen under the nose of army and police indicate that the statement of Defence Minister Manohar Parikar was being implemented on the ground.

Hurriyat chairman demanded a probe by an independent organization into these killings.
