Former Jamiat militant shot dead in Sopore

Sopore: Former militant Bashir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Sagipora (Sopore), was shot dead by an unidentified gunman on Friday evening. His three-year-old son Burhan Bashir, whom he was carrying in his lap when fired at, was critically injured and shifted to Srinagar for treatment.
Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that Bashir, a former Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen militant, was walking towards his home from a nearby market when the gunman, riding on a motorcycle along with an accomplice, shot at him from a close range. Both were taken to Handwara hospital. However, keeping in view the severity of his injury, doctors referred Burhan to Srinagar, his uncle Mohammad Ashraf Mir told Kashmir Reader.
