SRINAGAR: About 130 kanals have been allotted to the proposed National Institute of Fashion and Technology in industrial estate at Ompora, Budgam in central Kashmir.
The information was given to the Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash, who visited State Industrial Development Corporation’s (SIDCO) industrial estates at Ompora on Friday, an official handout issued here said.
“ESIC Hospital has been provided 40 kanals of land, while Geology and Mining department has been given 30 kanals in the indisputable estate,” he was told.
The minister, it said, was accompanied by Director Industries Kashmir Nazim Zia Khan, Managing Director SIDCO Ajaz Agha, and other senior officers.
During the visit, the minister was also told that the department has spent Rs 9 crore on various developmental works including construction of roads, drains, water and power supply at the Ompora industrial estate.
The officials shared that a Bio-Technology Park is coming up on 80 kanals of the land in the estate, while 150 kanal area is earmarked for IT department.
The minister asked for holding regular meetings with the stakeholders for further development of the infrastructure.
Later, he visited Shaltaing to assess the site and facilities, the handout said.
