Civilian injured as Indo-Pak armies trade fire in Poonch

Jammu: A civilian was injured as India and Pakistan troops exchanged gunfire and mortar shells on along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.

Pakistani troops fired mortar bombs and used automatic weapons to target forward posts along LoC in Balakote sector of Poonch district this morning, officials said.

“Our side retaliated appropriately but no casualty or damage was reported,” an Army officer said.

The firing was going on when last reports came in from the area, they said.

In the shelling, a civilian, Mohmmad Ashraf (24), was injured and some cattle were killed in Behrooti village, they said, adding, the youth has been hospitalised.

On Sunday, BSF officer ASI Sohan was killed in shelling when Pakistan targeted their post in Manjakotr sector along LoC in Rajouri district. (PTI)
