SRINAGAR: The department of Agriculture on Monday organised the sale of high-yielding seedlings of Kashmiri Saag (haakh) for plantation in kitchen gardens.
The sale event was inaugurated by Director Agriculture, Kashmir Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, an official handout issued here said.
“The sale witnessed tremendous enthusiasm among the people and heavy rush was witnessed on the first day of the sale. People from Srinagar as well as far flung areas of the Valley attended the sale,” it said.
The Director, it said, was informed that seedlings worth Rs 70,000 have been raised, and are ready for distribution.
“Around 10 Kanals of area is under cultivation for raising quality seedlings both in open and protected conditions with an aim to increase production of vegetables and meet the need of farmers to review their economic condition,” he was told.
