Teenage girl killed, elderly man injured in two separate attacks by wild animals

Baramulla: A teenage girl was killed while an elderly man was injured in two separate attacks by wild animals in twin districts of Kupwara and Bandipora of north Kashmir, officials said Monday.

18-year-old Zareena, daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Khatana on Sunday evening was attacked and critically injured by a leopard outside her house in Batnar village of Khurhama of the frontier Kupwara district, an official said.

The injured teen succumbed to the injuries before she could be taken to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, in Sumbal area of the neighbouring Bandipora district, an elderly man was attacked and injured by a bear this morning, officials said.

They said Haji Mohammad Ramzan Dar of Pehlipora was attacked and injured by a bear near New Colony, Safapora early this morning. He was instantly removed to Srinagar hospital for treatment.
