Beef ban: Students, scholars hold protest at Kashmir University

Srinagar: Hundreds of people staged peaceful protests at the Kashmir University over the High Court order banning sale of beef across the state.

Hundreds of students, scholars and the faculty members at the Kashmir University after offering congregational Friday prayers staged a peaceful protest against the beef ban terming the decision as interference in religious affairs, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

Carrying placards and banners that read “No worldy court can ban what Allah permits” “After taking away right to life, India is now snatching right to eat” the protesters denounced the decision alleging India was allegedly using its judiciary to impose Hindutva agenda in the Muslim majority state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The protesters, witnesses were shouting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans to vent their anger against the decision.KU
