Scrapping of employment schemes disappoints jobless youth

SRINAGAR: The stopping of two vital employment schemes by the government has disappointed the youth of the state, who earlier had seen a ray of hope availing the employment benefits out of these schemes.
The cancelation of Jammu and Kashmir Self Employment Scheme (JKSES )and Voluntary Service Allowances (VSA) scheme is seen by the youth as a measure against their interests.
Earlier in 1995, the government introduced JKSES, through which the different loans used to be sanctioned to unemployed educated youth, wanting to establish their own business units.
Later in 2010, the government announced Voluntary Service Allowances (VSA) scheme. The scheme paid rupees 700, 1000, 1200, 1500 to the youth having no jobs but possessing matric, 10+2, Diploma, Graduation and Post Graduation as their qualifications
However, the present government scrapped both the schemes with “no reason being given for such a move”.
The unemployed youth while terming such actions of the present government uncalled for, say the anti- youth policies of the government are choking the space of those who, despite having no government jobs, strived to earn their livelihood with dignity.
Abdul Rouf, an unemployed youth of district Baramulla who recently completed his graduation said he had applied for VSA scheme so that he could continue his education said the cancellation of the scheme has shattered his hopes.
Javid Ahmad Bhat who is an acting president of Industrial Estate north Kashmir while commenting over the government decision said there are scores of youth who want to establish their business units through JKSES schemes but the government decision has dashed their hopes.
Nighat, a graduate from north Kashmir’s Sopore while commenting over the issue said she had applied for VSA scheme in January 2015 and after completing all formalities, her case was rejected by the concerned authorities as the new government stopped the scheme.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Reader has learnt from its official sources that the Directorate of employment has ordered all employment departments wide order number ED/Acctts/Bud/Announcement 2010-11, Dated on10/04/2015 to stop entertaining the applications pertaining to the JKSES and VSA schemes .
