SRINAGAR: The government on Wednesday asked SICOP to explore the possibility of open market auction of the raw pashmina purchased from Leh, Ladakh.
An official handout issued here said the Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Sharma and Minister for Cooperatives Chering Dorjay chaired a meeting to review the procurement and sale of raw pashmina by SICOP.
The meeting discussed in detail the modalities for sale of raw pashmina purchased by SICOP from ACPGCMS, it said, adding SICOP was asked to explore the possibility of selling pashmina through open auction “so that sale proceeds may be utilised for purchase of raw pashmina from ACPGCMS, Leh on negotiated prices as per the MoU”.
Among others, the meeting, as per the handout, was attended by Chairman APGCMS, President KCCI, and representative of FCIK and Kashmir Pashmina Karigar Union.
Meanwhile, a deputation of Pashmina producers from Ladakh called on Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu, and Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, an official release issued here said.
They were accompanied by Minister for Cooperatives Chering Dorjey, it said.
“The producers raised various issues and problems confronting them,” it said.
