JK considering amendments in food, drug control Acts

SRINAGAR: The government on Wednesday directed the administrative authorities to work out details for possible amendments in the Acts concerning food and drug control in the state.
An official handout issued here said the Minister for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, and Minister for Health, Medical Education, Chowdhary Lal Singh chaired a meeting to discuss the legalities concerning Food and Drug Control Organisation and other issues pertaining to Health and Medical Education Department.
“The meeting held extensive discussions over the legalities concerning the organisation for better monitoring of the systems being put in place and for expanding the base of licensing and streamlining it further,” it said.
“The Law Minister issued directions to the concerned to work out details with regard to possible amendments that could be made in the concerned Acts, so that same is placed in the state legislature in its next session,” it said.
Various concerned cases pending before different courts were also discussed in the meeting, it said.
The meeting was also attended by Advocate General J&K, Jahangir Iqbal Ganai, Commissioner Secretary Finance, Navin Kumar Choudhary, Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr Mandeep Bhandari, and Secretary Law, Muhammad Ashraf Mir, it said.
