2 BSF men injured in ceasefire “violation” by Pak troops

Srinagar: Two BSF troopers  were injured after Pakistani troops allegedly violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch and Kupwara districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan today resorted to unprovoked firing on the forward Indian positions in Nowgam sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, injuring two BSF men, an army official said.

“Pakistani troops targeted our positions along the LoC in Nowgam sector around 11 AM,” the army official told PTI here.

Pakistan also violated ceasefire in Poonch district last night, forcing the Indian side to retaliate, Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta said today.

“Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations in forward areas of Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district from 2315 hours last night,” Mehta said.

“The area witnessed ceasefire violations by Pakistan army between 2315-0001 hours,” he said.

The forward posts of Pakistan fired towards the Indian side using automatics and heavy machine guns, he said.

“Our side retaliated appropriately but no casualty or damage were reported till reports last came in,” Mehta said. (PTI)
